This is obviously a lot of fun, but my favourite part is that the Gnus are not a cornball novelty act like those lounge cover bands that popped up everywhere in the late ’90s. The Gnus are serious jazz musicians (well, most of the time), playing pop standards instead of jazz standards. Which means I can recognize most of the tunes and understand the bass solo, without feeling like I’m at jazz kindergarten.
