I saw Marjorie Celona’s first film, “George’s Monster,” in a bar, as part of an evening of short films by students. It went on to show at festivals and win awards, but I think its most impressive credential is that it silenced a crowd of drunks.
Marjie has a new film, “Nicht Angegeben,” showing at the 2006 UVic Sunscreen Student Film Festival this Saturday, and admission is free. You should go see it!

“Nicht Angegeben” is about a young girl who meets a mysterious boy and his mother in a cemetery. She is faced with two problems: one that she cannot fix and one that she can. “Nicht Angegeben” is a film about what you can and cannot change in the world.
Please come celebrate its premiere screening! The film was written by Jeanne Shoemaker and stars Samantha Dols, Tom Wyman, Anna Durcanska, Michael Utgaard, Christopher Vickers and Bisia Belina, and features the music of Canadian composer John Burke.
