Cinevic’s annual Reel to Reel competition happens this Sunday at Logan’s Pub. Ten local bands contributed songs, and ten local filmmakers turned them into short films (under 5 minutes each). Now they will compete for prizes and cash!
Last year, the musical entrants ranged from Monsieur Guy to Clay George, and the films included experimental animation, an infrared costume drama, and something resembling a polished, commercial music video. Plus I won movie passes as a door prize.
The competition night is often your only chance to see the films, because they may be in non-digital formats and because the artists only have permission to use each other’s work for this one event. Otherwise I’d be showing you that Monsieur Guy video right now!
None of the Aloha House musicians submitted music this year, but it will still be a fun night.
