While I get ready to post the forthcoming (new! exciting!) Elephant Island album to our catalog of champions, you can enjoy the first mp3.
This was the first track where they got Marc’s new pedal steel to sound perfect—spooky and warm and swoony. We had a little listening party to check out one of the versions of the master and when this song started, the room suddenly got quiet (quieter than a room full of musicians and fans listening to a new master!).
The new album is called Monument, and it will be released on October 11 at Hermann’s in Victoria. Mark your calendars.
The first piano chord is threatening to become one of those instantly identifiable song openers that could make me prick up my ears from two blocks away. (I call this the “Ready for it!” response.)
this song is perfect, and i mean this more than i usually mean statements of this sentiment.
everything is locked in on glory, and glory is the result.
i especially like galen’s ‘let me make no myth of myself’, and marc’s first mythic swoop.
many congratulations my dear ones.
