While trying to find out more about the “interesting films” that are showing for free at Open Space tonight, I ran across a listing for their annual Breaxmas Klatch fundraiser.
Open Space will host its annual fundraiser on Saturday December 2, between 11 and 5 with its famed Breaxmas Klatch, a pancake breakfast with entertainment by Hank Pine, Himalayan Bear and the Great Giffoni.
Hank Pine and Himalayan Bear are nothing to shake a stick at, but I haven’t seen the Great Giffoni in years!
He performs a magic show with live musical accompaniment and live chickens, and I recall it being alternately hilarious and amazing, sort of the magician’s equivalent of lo-fi music. Between the chickens, the dramatic yet bumbling stage persona, and the blue tux he used to wear, the Great Giffoni was almost like a real life Gonzo the Great.
I’d probably go just for pancakes and Himalayan Bear, but pancakes and magic is a guaranteed good time.
